Weekly Roundup
We've continued to have some great practices this week in spite of our rainout yesterday. It's been fun to watch your kids gain confidence on the board. I watched multiple kids regain the dives they had last season and several others gain brand new dives!
We will have a mock meet on Thursday, June 18th. Please have divers arrive by 4 pm. We have invited Orange Hunt to join us. This will be a meet to shake the cobwebs off for our more experienced divers and let our brand new divers and parents see how a meet runs before our first Tuesday meet on the June 23rd.
So that we can best plan for the meet, please use SwimTopia to sign up by Tuesday. The link is here:

Please sign up for jobs! I'm asking my more experienced dive parents to take as many jobs as possible so that our new parents can get a feel for how a meet runs. We'll need 2 judges (training required), 2 table workers, an announcer, and many diner workers.
Our diner will be serving pizza and sub sandwiches. We still have no coordinator. If you have a BJs card and can do a BJs run (with a list and reimbursed), it would be super helpful! Please reach out!
New to dive? Mock meet vs Dive Meet
A dive meet in NVSL follows the same format every week. The 10 and under freshmen girls always start. They do 3 dives each. The first round will be front dives, the second round is back dives, and the 3rd round is an optional dive. Freshmen boys follow with the same number of rounds. 11-12 year old juniors follow them with 4 rounds (front, back, 2 optionals), 13-14 year old intermediates with 5 dives, and we end the night with 15-18 year old seniors doing 6 dives.
For our mock meet, we will keep the format the same as a regular Tuesday meet. Warmups for the home team (that's us!) will begin at 4. At 5 pm our guests will warm up, and at 5:45 the 10 and under freshmen girls will "take a bounce" (do a couple more warmup dives). At 6 we will begin.
While we will keep the format the same in a mock meet, we will change a few rules so that as many kids as possible can participate. We will allow a coach assist dive to count in scoring (max 2) and we will allow jumping dives (pencil dives) for all age categories (they are usually only allowed in freshmen ages). Even if your child doesn't yet have a full list for their age category, we want them to participate in the mock meet! These are a fun way to get the feel for dive!
As always, please reach out to [email protected] with any questions.
See you at the pool!
