Home Meet Day

Hi Everyone,

Today is home meet day. What does that mean to you?

This Morning

We will have practice as usual. Everyone, who can, will need to verify and sign their meet sheets.  Some have not declared for the meet. I will keep it open until 1pm today. Right now it is possible that we could be over the 32 diver limit. If we have to make decisions on who does and does not dive tonight. I would rather make them no later than morning practice.

This Afternoon
I need you to be ready for this afternoon. Greenbriar Dolphins warmups start at 4pm and last until 5pm. At 5pm, Camelot, our opponents, will warm up from 5-5:45.

We will then play the National Anthem give freshman girls a bounce and hopefully start the meet at 6pm. Many of you will be volunteering tonight as judges, table workers and at the Dolphin Diner. I am scheduled to be the referee tonight. How you can help me the most is be on time. The first home meet is always a bit nerve racking as we have not held one in a year. The less worry spent on whether someone is coming, the easier the night. If you are going to be late or cancel please please text both me 703-980-8313 and my wife (202) 714-3295. As I will be referee, there will little I can do once the match starts. Danielle will be handling last minute issues.
Weather may be an issue tonight. Unlike a practice, we will do our best to wait it out and get some if not all of the meet in. Obviously, the safety of the divers are most important and we will not dive in unsafe conditions. Unsafe conditions means the presence of thunder or lightning or rain to a point where the lifeguards can not clearly see the bottoms of the pool. Translation, we dive in light rain.

Lastly, clean up, when the meet is over, there is both administrative work and cleanup to be completed. Please help put tables back into the shed, if you see garbage, please help get it into a garbage can. If you see Leigh, our Dolphin Diner manager loading an inordinate amount of things into her vehicle, help her. Then head over to the McDonald’s for some fun times. We took up almost a quarter of the restaurant last week. I and sure we can fill half of it. The kids have a great time, as well as, the parents!

This will be a bunch of fun but I do like you to be aware of all the moving parts as there is always room to help.

See you at the pool!

Joel
