Asst Coach Bray is at USA Diving Jr. Nationals and Registration is Open
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to let you know that one of our Asst. Coaches (Matthew Bray) is at Regionals for USA Diving Jr. National Championships. Yesterday, was the 3m competition. Matthew had a very poor 1st dive and actually found himself in last place after one round. Now, Matthew could have had a pity party, gotten upset and completely lost his concentration. I am sure a little of that did happen but he didn't let it stop him. Over the next 10 dives, he clawed himself back into the competition finishing 7th out of 32, which was more than what was needed to qualify for Zones (next step to the finals). The point of the story is bad dives happen in practice and competition to everyone (even Matthew). When they happen, don't quit, don't lose your concentration, keep doing your best. Things may not always work out but you will feel far more positive about the experience when you try your best the whole competition/practice. Matthew competes in the 1m competition on Sunday. Please feel free to send him words of encouragement on his Instagram account @matt_bray28
I also want to encourage you to get registered. We usually don't have registration opened this early, so I understand it feels early to you, but the team needs to transition to earlier registration. Decisions must be made in early May as to which meets we will/can dive in. I know we will have new families not join until the pool opens but the experienced families could literally make the new families season far more enjoyable if they register now so we can make the proper decisions.
Thanks for your support and we will see you at the pool soon,
Joel
