We Tied Cardinal Hill! :)
Hey Team,
Congrats to everyone on a fantastic first meet, and thank you to all of the parents and volunteers who came out to support! Our Divers absolutely poured their hearts out last night and fought until the very last possible second, ending our nail-biting meet in a tie! Many of our Freshmen and Junior Divers competed for the first time this week, and the fact that they put a full meet sheet together in just 3 short weeks is astounding. You all are learning so incredibly fast, and I’m super proud of your passion for the sport.
I don’t think I’ve ever been apart of a Greenbriar Dive Meet that was this exciting to watch. In a dual meet, there is a maximum of 72 points for teams to earn, meaning a team only needs 37 to win. By the end of our 4th event, Junior Boys, Cardinal Hill had 31. Cardinal Hill was not giving us an easy time, and it was a little nerve racking. However, our intermediate and senior divers were completely unfazed. We won all intermediate and senior events, and even swept intermediate girls and senior boys. The comeback was unbelievable and I’m so proud of our team’s will to compete!
Our performance goes to show that every single diver counts, no matter the age-group or skill level. When it comes to getting team points, 3rd place is just as important as 1st place, and we need every single point we can get! All 32 of our divers played a vital role in getting us that Tie, and I’m so thankful we were able to dive a full team roster for the first time ever!
As always, I wanna give a few special shout outs to some of our Divers for their performances. Firstly, shout out to Freshmen Boy Calvin Lawrence for competing his first back dive ever in a meet! Cal learned his back dive yesterday morning after working tirelessly on it for 3 weeks. All his hard work paid off and he wound up nailing it! In the same vein, shout out to Junior Boy Luke Snyder, who also learned his Front Flip Tuck yesterday morning. He executed this dive perfectly in the competition like an absolute beast!
Next, I want to shout out our fearless Junior Girl, Jenna Speredelozzi. She performed her first front flip tuck in the meet as well! This is a very new dive for her, but she made it look easy. Fantastic work! Another Junior Girl, Eliza Miller, gave us a truly remarkable display of diving. The pre-meet nerves were no match for her masterful skills, and she wound up getting 3rd place! Way to go! Lastly, shout out to Leah Mozeleski on winning a very intense senior girls event. Leah’s consistency proved unbeatable and she came out on top when we needed her most!
On another note, a few parents have reached out to me regarding private lessons. I wanted to let everyone know that I’m available for private lessons, and if anyone is looking for one on one practice time, please feel free to reach out! I’ll attach my contact info below, and we can schedule a time to work together in between normal practices.
Best,
Coach Samson
